Mis juhtus
Suspected commanders are Colonel Олег Скітський, commander of the 121st Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment; Colonel Ілля Корягін, deputy commander and chief of staff of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division; and Lieutenant Colonel Олександр Сенченко, chief of staff and deputy commander of the 121st regiment. The investigation alleges that they coordinated the preparation and execution of the attack, participated in planning it, passed the combat order to subordinates, and ordered an X-101 air-launched missile strike from a Tu-95MS strategic bomber. The Kh-101 struck Okhmatdyt's treatment building at about 10:45 on 8 July 2024, when children were inside. More than 600 patients were in the hospital. Two civilians died, including a young doctor and the grandfather of a young patient, while at least 34 people, including nine children, were injured. Two floors of the hospital building and an entrance to a residential apartment building were destroyed, and medical equipment was destroyed. Across Kyiv, 33 people died that day. The allegations are pursued under Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, covering war crimes combined with intentional murder.

Ukrainian reporting emphasizes the legal basis for the suspicions, the named commanders' roles and their alleged coordination and orders, as well as the presence of children and more than 600 patients in the hospital. The new notifications are presented as an expansion of an existing criminal investigation in which three Russian generals have already received in-absentia suspicions.

English-language coverage focuses on the announcement of in-absentia suspicions against three additional commanders and the relevant criminal provision, while presenting the same casualty figures for the hospital strike and the wider death toll in Kyiv that day.
